moduS ponY I like how the music on this release isn't exactly background music but isn't desperate for your attention either. We Do The Work Now reminds me of a really tense, surreal scene of a movie where something bad is about to happen, perhaps a workplace accident in a mine or a turn-of-the-century factory. Favorite track: We Do the Work Now (Intensity Mix).

Greg Nieuws Some day I'm going to sit down and do a comparative listen between this and "The Rain, The Pour" to see how much deeper the similarities go than the name. Today I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the listen. Favorite track: She is Your Grandfather and Your Grandmother.

about

A collection of loose-fitting tracks from other albums and sessions that serve as a sort of prelude to the music of 2021. A lot more abstract than usual from me. Not as composed as I have been this year. Not as diatonic. More flowing between sounds and spaces. Occasionally pretty. Often relentless. I love all these tracks and some of the new directions I'm taking with techniques but these didn't quite serve as vessels for the narrative for which they were recorded. They seem fitting both as a prelude and as a punctuation mark for the relentless year in which they were recorded.

Whettman Chelmets - synths, strings, pianos, chorales, scratchy sounds, samples, relentless waves of midrange, drones, choppy choppies, paulstretcher, midi extractor, all the things.

No guitars were used on this record. Except the acoustic guitar sampler I built.

All songs recorded September - November 2020.

Mixed and mastered by Whettman Chelmets in his living room. Probably when his wife was getting caught up on Normal People.
